Breathtaking Country Waterfall Adventure For an adventure into the "real" Hawaii, away from resorts and modern development, take an excursion into the heart of the Kohala countryside to see the land of old sugar plantations, Hawaiian legends, and untouched natural beauty. Your adventure will begin with a scenic drive through the Kohala countryside which leads to an off-road private trailhead. Walking along the trail that has been carved out of the rainforest, you'll pass scenic streams and many waterfalls, as well as ancient Hawaiian terraces and flumes along the famous Kohala Ditch. Easy walking, breathtaking countryside views and a chance to take a refreshing dip in a mountain stream with cascading waterfalls make this half-day adventure a highlight of your Hawaiian experience. Walking sticks, raingear, warm wear, daypacks, bottled water, snacks and beverages provided. Guests should wear closed-toed walking shoes, reef walkers or sports sandals; bathing suit under shorts; hat; sunscreen; and a light sweatshirt or jacket. KOHALA DITCH ADVENTURES The tour begins with an off-road excursion on custom Pinzgauers to a launch site high in the Kohala mountains. Immersed in a jungle setting, a short hike over a 150 ft. flume overlooking a waterfall and a fascinating earth tunnel is the prelude to your kayak journey. You will board kayaks and cruise for 2 ˝ miles through a Hawaiian rainforest, 10 earth tunnels, water flumes and native flora and fauna. The knowledgeable fifth- generation, native Hawaiian guides will share genuine history and Hawaiian folklore. You will experience the epitome of the Aloha Spirit with all the staff at Kohala Ditch Adventures.
